If you live in Tokyo, there is no need to tell you that the city has one of the best music scenes in the world ! With renowned artists and musicians flowing seamlessly in and out of the Tokyo each weekend, this is truly a city that never sleeps. Taking advantage of the art and music scene, I started Parties 4 Peace in the year 2002 in Japan.I invite all of you to join us in our musical and artistic journey…

Parties 4 Peace

I am originally from the city of Irvine, California in the United States, but later moved to North Carolina where I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and had the opportunity to participate in various volunteer projects in Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador and an exchange program in 2001 that focused on the culture, economy and politics of Chile, South America. After graduating with a degree in Cultural Studies, I explored new horizons by moving to Asia to work in Japan, and founded Parties for Peace, a nonprofit production group that promotes peace and a better environment through music and dance.
The purpose of Parties 4 Peace was to raise much needed funding to help support non-profit projects in Latin America and around the world. We started a community service project in Metapan, El Salvador and hoped to construct a community center in a rural village that needed support. To raise the funds needed, we held a party in Gunma-ken with DJs who volunteered their time and talent. The party was a huge success, and later we continued to hold various parties to raise funds for international projects around the world.
In 2009, I founded PATAGONICA, a collective, recreational and cultural project, which through music seeks to create environmental awareness of the ecological abuse accentuated in the austral zone of Chile, product of global warming and indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources in Patagonia. Through this collective, we have not only raised funds to help support a local environmental NGO in Chile, but we have also started an international exchange of artists from Tokyo and Chile, South America. This year, DJ Kusda from Raft Tokyo will join us on our South American tour to the most pristine nature in the world – Patagonia !   To join us or support our projects, please visit our site at www.parties4peace.com
